You Can Still Donate to the Annual Turkey Drive Which Helps Makes Thanksgiving Meal Possible
Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada (CCSN) is announcing the return of their annual Thanksgiving meal, seeking to provide a warm and hearty meal for those who need it most. Food insecure and the unhoused are welcomed with open arms to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal entirely free of charge as part of their initiative to provide help and hope.
On Thanksgiving, 700 meals will be served to Southern Nevada’s most vulnerable men, women and children. Hundreds of pounds of freshly cooked holiday goods will be prepared for the feast, including:
- 300 pounds of roasted turkey
- 300 pounds of garlic mashed potatoes
- 300 pounds of corn bread stuffing
- 300 pounds of green bean casserole
- 20 gallons of turkey gravy
- 20 gallons of cranberry sauce
- 60 gallons of hot cocoa
- 700 slices of pumpkin pie
“It is an honor to see our dining hall filled with satisfied folks, eating a delicious holiday meal and sharing friendly conversations with strangers,” said Deacon Tom Roberts, CEO of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada. “These moments of happiness are made of precious donations from members of our incredible community. Donations, whether they be monetary or consumable, are priceless contributions to all we strive to do at Catholic Charities. Seeing the community come together each year to make a difference is a shining example of Southern Nevada’s togetherness.”
Contributions to the Hands of Hope Food Pantry in preparation for the holidays are still being accepted. CCSN began its Turkey Drive in October and with an astounding 500 turkeys pledged for donation, but currently still short of its goal of 1,000 turkeys. Donations of frozen turkeys and nonperishable dinner fixings, such as boxed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, and canned yams, will be accepted daily from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the CCSN campus, located at 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. North, Las Vegas, NV 89101 through Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
Additionally, as part of the annual Thanksgiving initiatives, CCSN will deliver 2,450 holiday meals to homebound seniors through its Meals on Wheels program.
