For domestic violence survivors, getting to a counseling appointment, legal service, or safe shelter can be impossible without reliable transportation. A new $10,000 grant is working to change that.
SafeNest has received a $10,000 grant through Hope Rides — a partnership between Uber and the Alliance for HOPE International — to provide ride credits for survivors traveling to and from One Safe Place, Nevada’s first affiliated Family Justice Center, which opened October 15.
“Without reliable transportation, a counseling appointment, legal assistance, or a connection to safe housing can remain out of reach,” said SafeNest CEO Liz Ortenburger. “This support removes a practical barrier that can stand between someone seeking help and the resources they need to move forward.”
Launched in 2025, Hope Rides has provided more than 5,300 rides and facilitated over 52,000 miles of travel for survivors nationwide. One Safe Place is now one of 31 Family Justice Centers across 18 states participating in the program.
Opened October 15, One Safe Place brings advocacy, legal services, healthcare, counseling, and community resources together under one roof — a one-stop destination for survivors seeking immediate and long-term support.
