What’s it like to navigate the world with a visual impairment? Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation is giving Las Vegas the chance to find out at its first-ever Ladybugs & Libations fundraiser on Saturday, October 17 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Arts District. Tickets are $40 at nvblindchildren.org.
The event takes participants through four Arts District stops — Garagiste Wine Room & Merchant, Voodoo Brewing Company, Jammyland, and CraftHaus Arts District — each with 6 oz.+ pours and hands-on challenges. The twist: participants wear simulation glasses representing different types of visual impairments, then attempt activities like a blind wine tasting, Jenga, Connect Four, and a white cane obstacle course.
“For just a few hours, participants will experience some of the challenges that can come with vision loss while learning that with the right tools, support and opportunities, children who are blind or visually impaired can do so much,” said Executive Director Maribel Garcia.
Can’t make it? NBCF’s virtual 50/50 raffle is open through October 17 — half the pot goes to one lucky winner, half supports NBCF programs. Enter at nvblindchildren.org/raffles.
