DISCOVERY Children’s Museum invites elementary and middle school students and their families to its 5th annual Girls in STEM event on Sunday, October 11 — a free morning of hands-on activities, live presentations, and inspiring speakers dedicated to making STEM accessible and exciting for young learners. The event is FREE with registration.
Sponsored by the Gene Haas Foundation and Google, the event features women in STEM as keynote speakers, including occupational and physical therapists from Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and a community engagement manager from the Nevada Mining Association.
Schedule:
- 8:30–9 a.m. — Check-in
- 9–10 a.m. — Women in STEM speakers
- 10 a.m.–noon — Hands-on STEM stations across all three floors (drone piloting, 3D printing, robot design, coding, slime lab, and more) plus community partner booths
- 10:15 a.m. & 11:15 a.m. — Live science presentations
- Noon — Stay and Play: participants who check in by 9 a.m. receive free museum admission after the event
Community partners include UNLV Tech Trekkers, Women in Aviation, Springs Preserve, the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, and more.
Registration is required at shop.discoverykidslv.org. Elementary and middle school-aged students and their families including siblings, friends and caregivers are welcome to attend.
