October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and S.A.F.E. House is marking it with two events — one a celebration of community, the other a solemn moment of remembrance.
Crawl for a Cause — October 10, 5 p.m. | Water Street, Henderson
The fifth annual pub crawl returns to Henderson’s Water Street on October 10. Ticket holders ages 21 and older will receive one complimentary drink or snack at each of five stops — Gold Mine Tavern, Sticks Tavern, Johnny Mac’s Water Street Tavern, Mojave Brewing Company, and Chinitas Tapas & Sushi — plus a commemorative pint glass. Proceeds support S.A.F.E. House’s shelter and services for survivors and their children.
Ticket pricing: $50 for one, $40 each for two, $30 each for four, $25 each for ten. Purchase at safehousenv.org/events.
Domestic Violence Vigil — October 21, 6 p.m. | Proctor Judicial Park, Henderson
According to the Nevada Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence, 33 victims lost their lives to domestic violence homicide last year. S.A.F.E. House will honor them — and uplift survivors — at a candlelight gathering featuring poetry, testimonies, and community connection at Proctor Judicial Park, 243 S. Water St., Henderson.
The location holds special meaning: the park is named after S.A.F.E. House co-founder Ken Proctor, who passed away in 2014. This year’s vigil falls on his birthday.
