The Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum is marking Hispanic Heritage Month throughout September with a community-curated exhibition and hands-on workshops exploring the wildlife, ecosystems, and natural landscapes of Latin America.
The month-long exhibition features artwork by local artists connecting culture, identity, and belonging to the natural world of Latin America. New this year, local artist Aleida Castro joins as guest artist-in-residence, leading two drop-in embroidery workshops that blend artistic tradition with the science of textile-making — exploring natural fibers, dyes, and thread structure. The workshops launch the museum’s new “Woven Throughout History” multi-month series.
Workshop Dates:
- Charro Embroidery Workshop — Saturday, Sept. 5, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Flowers Embroidery Workshop — Saturday, Sept. 19, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Both workshops and the exhibition are included with museum admission. General admission is $14 for adults, $12 for students, seniors, and military, and $7 for children ages 3–11. Nevada resident discounts available.
