United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) has launched the Nonprofit Navigator Program, a free five-week initiative developed in partnership with the City of Las Vegas to help nonprofit leaders build stronger, more sustainable organizations.
Twenty-three nonprofit leaders were selected for the inaugural cohort, which began August 4 and runs in a hybrid format combining in-person sessions at UWSN with virtual learning. The curriculum walks participants through five stages of nonprofit development — from mission and board foundations to 501(c)(3) compliance, program design, community engagement, and a final graduation pitch.
“Passion starts a nonprofit, but structure is what sustains it,” said Samuel Rudd, UWSN President and CEO. “The Nonprofit Navigator Program is our investment in those leaders, helping them build the systems and relationships they need to grow their impact.”
“This innovative program fills a longstanding gap by providing valuable resources to aspiring nonprofit founders and emerging leaders,” added Mayor Pro Tem Olivia Diaz.
The program is part of UWSN’s broader support for the nonprofit sector, which includes Community Impact Grants, monthly Nonprofit Connection meetings, and a quarterly networking series co-hosted with Nevada GrantLab.
