Credit One Bank is wrapping up another strong year for its One For The Community Scholarship Program, awarding $300,000 to Southern Nevada students heading to college in-state.
This year’s class of 30 recipients each received a $10,000 scholarship. Twenty were selected through the bank’s ongoing partnership with the Public Education Foundation (PEF), and 10 more came through a new partnership with Project 150 — marking the first time that organization has been part of the program.
Students were recognized at a reception on June 3 at Credit One Bank’s Las Vegas headquarters.
“This year’s recipients have demonstrated remarkable determination, leadership and commitment to their futures,” said Mamta Kapoor, Community Reinvestment Officer at Credit One Bank. “By expanding the program through our new partnership with Project 150, we’re able to reach even more deserving students.”
Jeff Wells, Co-President of the Public Education Foundation, noted this is the fourth consecutive year Credit One Bank has participated. “These students have worked incredibly hard, and scholarships like these provide critical support as they pursue higher education.”
Kelli Kristo, Executive Director of Project 150, called the new partnership a meaningful step for the students her organization serves. “Many face tremendous obstacles while pursuing their education, and this support helps remove financial barriers while opening doors to future opportunities.”
