The Proud to Rescue Benevolent Fund (PTRF), a 501 (c)(3) organization of Clark County Firefighters, Local 1908, debuted a themed patient exam room at Cure 4 The Kids Foundation (C4K), giving patients the impression they are inside a local fire station during their appointments.
Patients, medical staff, members of Clark County Firefighters Local 1908, along with representatives of the Proud to Rescue Benevolent Fund, officially dedicated the room today inside C4K, Nevada’s only pediatric cancer and rare disease treatment center.
“We are incredibly thankful to the Proud to Rescue Benevolent Fund and Clark County Firefighters, Local 1908, who chose to create this wonderful addition to the clinic. It’s a big hit with our patients,” said Annette Logan-Parker, Chief Innovation and Advocacy Officer at C4K. “The PRTF room is another opportunity for us to bring some joy to patients who are facing serious medical challenges. Personally, as the mother of a firefighter, I am extremely proud to have this resource within the clinic.”
Pediatric patients undergoing treatment for cancer or a rare disease can often spend hours in the clinic. Some patients are seen multiple times per week to undergo blood tests, chemotherapy, or follow-up medical appointments. Themed patient exam rooms offer patients something unexpected and add joy to their experience at the clinic.

“The mission of the Proud to Rescue Benevolent Fund is to support Local 1908 members, their families and survivors, along with the greater community we serve,” said Ray LeClair, Chairman of the Proud to Rescue Benevolent Fund. “It is an honor for the Fund to be able to support the youngest among us who are facing an incredible medical challenge. We hope our specially designed exam room brings joy and inspiration to these young warriors.”
The PTRF had the room decorated to resemble a brick interior, complete with the front grill and side view of a Clark County fire truck. Each patient who has an appointment in the PTRF-themed room will leave with a commemorative sticker or a fire helmet.
More than 7,000 unique patients receive treatment for childhood cancer and rare diseases each year at Cure 4 The Kids Foundation.
