Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation (NVCCF) and Brett Torino Foundation will hold its 28th annual Camp Cartwheel Summer Camp at Torino Ranch for critically ill children and their siblings June 19 – 22.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Torino Ranch, Camp Cartwheel has been a beacon of joy for over 5,000 children since its inception in 1996.
The camp offers a plethora of activities including swimming, singing, dancing, arts and crafts, canoeing, outdoor games, and rock wall climbing. More than just a fun retreat, Camp Cartwheel provides critically ill children and their siblings, aged five through 17, with the opportunity to form positive relationships, develop independence and self-esteem, and simply experience the joys of childhood in a safe and supportive environment. Over 175 dedicated camp staff and volunteers work tirelessly to help children overcome the physical, mental, and emotional challenges posed by childhood illness.
Jeff Gordon, President and CEO of the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation, added, “Camp Cartwheel is a magical time for everyone involved. We thank the Brett Torino Foundation for their unwavering support and dedicated service in providing the breathtaking Torino Ranch. Through their generosity as well as our sponsors, memories are made to last a lifetime, children are encouraged to continue their fight against disease, and hope for the future is kindled.”
Brett Torino, Founder of the Brett Torino Foundation, expressed his deep gratitude, saying, “Thirty years ago, I discovered this beautiful location and fell in love with the property, transforming it into Torino Ranch. It’s our honor to host Camp Cartwheel every summer and provide a special safe haven for the kids. Heading into our 25th year, we’ve seen kids who have been coming year after year and are now old enough to be adult volunteers, even lifeguards. It’s a proud moment for all of us.”
Generous donations from local businesses, community leaders, and caring individuals ensure that children attending Camp Cartwheel receive a cost-free camp experience. Major sponsors for Camp Cartwheel include PENTA Building Group, Southwest Specialty Contractors, MacDonald Highlands, Hogs & Heifers Saloon, Olympia Companies Charitable Foundation, NPFMA (Nevada Professional Facility Managers Association), and the Brett Torino Foundation.
