Workforce Connections, Southern Nevada’s Local Workforce Development Board, welcomes Nye County Commissioner Ron Boskovich to its Local Elected Official (LEO) Consortium and M.J. Maynard, Chief Executive Officer of Southern Nevada’s Regional Transportation Commission (RTC), to the Workforce Connections (WC) Board.
Commissioner Boskovich was elected to the Nye County Commission in 2022 and represents District 4. While not members of the WC Board, the LEOs oversee primary Board activities such as fiduciary responsibilities over local area resources, budget approvals, coordinating inter-local government agreements, and appointing WC Board members.
Maynard was appointed to a two-year term on the WC Board, representing the RTC. Her experience in hospitality and transportation will be valuable for steering investments in the public workforce development system and driving high return on investment (ROI).
The WC Board oversees activities under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014. The Board is comprised of a diverse group of people familiar with the local labor market and the economic forces impacting Southern Nevada. They work to align resources towards effective workforce development to meet local area needs. Board members represent various areas community, including business, labor organizations, educational institutions, community service organizations, and professional service associations.
