The Henderson Symphony Orchestra (HSO) recently welcomed nearly 2,000 CCSD students from 15 different elementary schools to their annual Concert 4Kids, “The Orchestra Games” at the Dollar Loan Center.
The private concert provided students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in classical music, which included John Williams’ Harry Potter theme. This yearly event provides a unique experience where students can touch and try orchestral instruments, conduct the orchestra, interact with the musicians and Music Director, and even decide how the music is going to end.
“This is our favorite event of the year because music education is a big mission here at the Henderson Symphony Orchestra,” said Alexandra Arrieche, music director of the Henderson Symphony Orchestra. “It is exciting when we see the kids engaging with the orchestra and with instruments. It’s really special because we can show them that music is for everybody.”
The annual Concert 4Kids is just one of several programs the HSO offers, to promote inclusion in symphonic music for youth, emerging artists, and experienced professionals.
The HSO is now gearing up to perform a Star Wars-themed event on May 4, tickets start at $29 and are now on sale. The HSO will conclude its 2022-2023 season on June 2nd with a free concert, “WHAM.” Both events will be at the Dollar Loan Center.
