The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District continues its partnership in literacy with the Vegas Golden Knights with the launch of the 2021-2022 hockey season’s VGK player bookmarks.
The season kicks off with Defenseman Shea Theodore as the November bookmark and Right Wing/Captain Mark Stone as the December edition, PLUS a special video from Stone and Defenseman Alex Pietrangelo, asking fans to “Take the #GetCarded Challenge!”
“Our #GetCarded Challenge has become a year-round promotion to encourage the public to sign up for a free library card and learn about the unlimited possibilities that we offer,” said Kelvin Watson, executive director of the Library District. “This includes unexpected things like toy lending, DJ classes, a podcasting studio, music and video production facilities, computer labs for all ages, free WiFi, live performances, art exhibits, and so much more. And it’s all free.”

“We are extremely excited to continue our partnership with the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District by announcing the launch of the team’s all-new bookmarks,” said Vegas Golden Knights Chief Marketing Officer Eric Tosi. “The collaboration shows that consistent growth and improvement in literacy off the ice is valued just as much as any characteristics found on the ice. In addition to books, the Library District offers an arsenal of opportunities to help benefit our community.”
“On behalf of the Library District Board of Trustees and administration, we extend a sincere thank you to the Vegas Golden Knights organization for their long-term partnership and support of our literacy programs throughout the valley,” said Watson.
Watson explained that the VGK Collectible Team Bookmarks, featuring spotlighted players, continue to be wildly popular. “We have even had people call us from out of state as well as teachers giving class assignments based on the players’ favorite library items,” he explained.
The VGK Bookmark Series enables local hockey fans to learn more about their favorite players on the Library District website at LVCCLD.org/VGK, where they will find a highlighted VGK web page along with a blog from everyone’s favorite Gila Monster, entitled “Chance’s Chat.”
Each bookmark design will feature the player’s team photo and the team’s traditional black and gold colors. The first bookmark, featuring Shea Theodore is now available in all 25 Las Vegas-Clark County Library branches, which are located across the valley, as well as City National Arena. Players are subject to change.
Besides collecting all of the VGK Library District bookmarks, another way that fans can show their hockey pride is to sign up for the official Vegas Golden Knights “Vegas Born” Library Card.
