Bank of America announced today $280,000 in grants to 18 Las Vegas nonprofit organizations to drive meaningful and sustainable progress to help tackle Southern Nevada’s biggest challenges. This is the first round of local grants the company awards to local nonprofits throughout the year.
These investments focus on health and jobs by addressing the economic and social conditions that influence family stability, wellness and food access and build pathways to employment through workforce development, helping to pull people away from poverty and towards economic mobility. The funding will support issues including food insecurity, homelessness, veterans’ needs and youth education.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the State of Nevada is leading the country in unemployment and the high school graduation rate statewide is two percent lower than the national average. Access to quality education and skills training is critical for driving Las Vegas’ economic growth. That is why the bank is focused on supporting a range of workforce development opportunities including student support, youth and adult upskilling and reskilling programs and post-secondary institutions to help vulnerable individuals and families stabilize and advance.
Jobs for Nevada Graduates (J4NG) received funds that will contribute toward its mission to help elevate achievement outcomes for Nevada students. Through its various programs, support and mentorship, J4NG helps at-risk high school students graders successfully graduate. Beyond high school, they provide connections and resources to enter job skills training such as apprenticeships, accreditation programs and traditional post-secondary education.
In addition, one in seven Southern Nevadans experiences food insecurity — that’s more than 341,000 people who may not know where their next meal will come from. Funds donated to Three Square Food Bank will allow the organization to continue championing hunger relief – offering wholesome, nutritious food to non-profit and faith-based organizations, schools and feeding sites for those suffering from food insecurity.
“Partnering with Las Vegas nonprofit organizations to address issues like Jobs for Nevada Graduates and Three Square Food is part of our approach to fostering economic mobility and equitable progress,” said Al Welch, president, Bank of America Las Vegas. “These investments demonstrate how we are taking action to provide our Las Vegas community the essential resources and support needed to help people succeed in today’s and tomorrow’s economy.”

These grants build on the $7.5 million Bank of America provided to Las Vegas organizations since 2018, and are part of the company’s commitment to delivering responsible growth to improve the financial lives of individuals, families, and entire communities. Philanthropic and volunteer investments continue to play a key role in this effort to build thriving communities. In the past five years, local Bank of America employees have logged more than 66,000 volunteer hours.
