The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is marking Hispanic Heritage Month with a packed lineup of free concerts, workshops, performances, and cultural programs across its branches through October 15. Here are the highlights:
September
- Sept. 15 | Amate Painting Workshop — Sunrise Library, 4 p.m. Create colorful paintings inspired by traditional Mexican folk art. Kids, tweens, teens.
- Sept. 15 & 22 | Lotería Game Night — East Las Vegas Library, 5 p.m. Play the traditional game for prizes. All ages.
- Sept. 16 | Katerina and The Band — Windmill Library, 6:30 p.m. Latin jazz fusion concert. Adults, seniors.
- Sept. 18–Oct. 23 | Hispanic Heritage Oral History Project — East Las Vegas Library, Fridays 2–5 p.m. Record a short video about your heritage for the Library District’s permanent collection. All ages.
- Sept. 19 | Día de Muertos Ofrenda Workshop — Sahara West Library, 11 a.m. Learn about ofrendas and make a memory box with artist Isaias Urrabazo. Young children.
- Sept. 19 | A Tribute to Selena — East Las Vegas Library, 7 p.m. Live concert starring Cynthia Rios. All ages.
- Sept. 20, 22 & Oct. 3 | ¡Ritmos del Sur! — West Charleston, Sahara West, and Clark County libraries. Duo Mystique Flute and Harp perform Latin American soundscapes. Adults.
- Sept. 24 | Tango Sin Aires — Rainbow Library, 6 p.m. Celebrated quintet performs Argentine tango. Adults.
- Sept. 26 | Fiesta Folklórico — East Las Vegas Library, 3 p.m. Danzantes del Puerto perform traditional dances rooted in the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. Adults, seniors.
- Sept. 27 | Author Visit: Ingrid Rojas Contreras — East Las Vegas Library, 1 p.m. Live conversation, Q&A, and book signing with the bestselling Colombian author. Adults.
- Sept. 27 | Spotlight Poetry: Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Showcase — West Charleston Library, 3 p.m. Adults, seniors.
October
- Oct. 1 | Pipe Cleaner Flower Centerpiece — East Las Vegas Library, 4 p.m. Teens, adults.
- Oct. 2 | The Sonz – A Night of Spanish Rock — Windmill Library, 7 p.m. Spanish rock, cumbia, and live energy. Teens, adults.
- Oct. 4 | Flavio Enchanted Flutes — West Charleston Library, 4 p.m. South American flute music. Teens, adults.
- Oct. 5–7 | Michael Nigro Classical Guitar Concerts — Sahara West, Enterprise, and Clark County libraries. Internationally celebrated guitarist performs a three-night series. Adults.
- Oct. 9 | ¡Viva el Mariachi! — Clark County Library, 6:30 p.m. Student mariachi musicians from local middle and high schools. All ages.
- Oct. 15 | Con Cultura y Corazón — West Las Vegas Library, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. A daylong celebration of Hispanic culture, history, and community. Teens, adults, seniors.
