DISCOVERY Children’s Museum is entering a new chapter with several leadership changes taking effect this summer.
Melissa Kaiser steps down after eight years as CEO. Her last day is June 30. Under her tenure, the Museum grew from a $3.6 million to a $6.7 million organization, secured four consecutive $250,000 federal grants, navigated the pandemic reopening, and advanced a $25 million expansion campaign.
“I am proud of what we accomplished together and confident that the Museum’s brightest days remain ahead,” Kaiser said.
Laura Christian takes over as Interim CEO on July 1 while the board conducts a permanent search. Christian has been with the Museum for 13 years, most recently as VP of Learning Experiences, overseeing programming, exhibits, grants, and community partnerships.
Troy Moser was appointed Board Chair on June 16. One of the Museum’s longest-serving volunteer leaders, Moser first joined the board in 1997 and is the founder of MOSER Architecture Studio in Las Vegas.
“Laura is a trusted and respected leader who knows the Museum, our mission, and our community exceptionally well,” Moser said. “The Board has complete confidence in her ability to lead the organization during this transition.”
