With Giving Tuesday (Tuesday, December 2, 2025) just two weeks away, Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions is calling on the community for support as requests for help reach record levels.
A generous donor has pledged to match all Giving Tuesday contributions up to $10,000, with an additional 1% boost available through Givebutter on December 2.
The organization recently responded to an urgent plea that underscores the increasing demand for rescue services. Late Friday afternoon, a local woman reached out in desperation after her daughter — who had been taking in cats and kittens from social media posts — became overwhelmed. Two unspayed adult females had recent litters, and a sudden family emergency forced the daughter to return to Alabama immediately, leaving her mother with 13 cats and kittens and only 48 hours to find help. Homeward Bound stepped in without hesitation.
“Our team scrambled to find fosters, open space, and arrange emergency veterinary appointments,” said Vanessa Porter, Executive Director of Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions. “These cats had nowhere else to go. Because of our supporters, we were able to say yes.”
The cats — two mothers and their young litters — were frightened and stressed. Today, all 13 are safe in foster homes, beginning the long journey toward recovery. Many are still facing health challenges, but the organization emphasizes that their futures are bright thanks to donor support.
Double Your Impact for Giving Tuesday
From now through December 2, all donations to Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions will be doubled up to $10,000. Gifts made on December 2 through Givebutter will also qualify for a 1% match.
Funds raised will provide essential veterinary care, food, supplies, and lifesaving support for cats and kittens in need throughout the Las Vegas community. Supporters are encouraged to take action in one of three ways:
- Make an online donation: Even $10 becomes $20 with the match! Donate online here!
- Spread the word: Sharing the Giving Tuesday campaign with friends, family, and on social media helps extend Homeward Bound’s reach.
- Become a match donor: Supporters interested in amplifying their impact can contact the organization to become part of the matching fund.
“Every dollar saves lives, and every share spreads hope,” said Porter. “Together, we make miracles happen for the most vulnerable cats in our community.”
