In collaboration with Nevada Homeless Alliance, a Family Connect pop-up event will take place at Delta Academy in North Las Vegas, providing community resources from 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 8.
Available to students and families throughout the Las Vegas Valley, the free event will be held in Delta Academy’s cafeteria, offering a variety of community resources related to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid and Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS); behavioral health; education and mentorship; financial literacy; and housing assessments, among others.
Vision and medical services will also be provided, including on-site vision testing; blood pressure checks; and vaccinations for back to school, Coronavirus, the flu, and Hepatitis A, B and C.
“At Delta Academy, not only are we passionate about helping our students and families succeed, but also, our community throughout Southern Nevada,” said Dr. Lashon Fredricks, high school principal of Delta Academy. “For many, crucial resources are not easily accessible, so we are grateful to have Nevada Homeless Alliance bring such an incredible pop-up event to our campus, welcoming those in need of support.”
The Nevada Homeless Alliance’s mission is to end homelessness in Southern Nevada through advocacy, public awareness and coordination of services. The organization’s Family Connect pop-up events have served thousands of individuals, providing access to critical resources.
