The Rita Deanin Abbey Art Museum is set for an exciting collection of events this May, including a senior-focused yoga class; a new movement series for all ages; a woman-focused financial literacy seminar; and an immersive sound bath.
On Saturday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the museum will welcome guests of all ages to its Free First Saturday. This event invites individuals from across the Las Vegas Valley to explore the museum’s diverse collection, engage with art through interactive activities, and enjoy a day of shared creativity. Admission is free, but tickets must be reserved here.
On Sunday, May 4from 1 to 2 p.m., the museum will host its Yoga Class for Seniors, led by Nicole Scheerer, founder of The Sunshine Den and yoga instructor with more than 20 years of experience. The class is designed to be adaptable and will focus on improving balance, strength, and flexibility for older adults, promoting overall well-being through guided stretching and movements. While the session is senior-focused, guests of all ages are encouraged to participate. Tickets are $20 per session and are available for purchase here.

On Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., the museum, in collaboration with Nicola Lea Kilyushik, will introduce a new yoga class, Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra, also known as “yogic sleep,” is a guided meditation and gentle movement practice that promotes deep relaxation and inner awareness to restore the body and mind. During the hour-long experience, guests will focus on movement, breath awareness and intention setting. Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing that allows for a full range of motion. Participants should bring water, a yoga mat and any additional supports needed. This session is open to all levels, from beginners to experienced practitioners. On Saturday, May 17from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., also in collaboration with Nicola Lea Kilyushik, the museum will introduce a new movement series “Moving Meditation: Introduction to Qi Gong & Tai Chi.” Qigong is an ancient practice that focuses on cultivating and circulating vital energy (qi) throughout the body while tai chi emphasizes a series or “dance” of coordinated movements sometimes referred to as “forms.” Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing that allows for a full range of motion. Participants should bring water, a yoga mat and any additional supports needed. This session is open to all levels, from beginners to experienced practitioners. On Saturday May 17 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the museum, in collaboration with Beth Burns, will host “Women’s Financial Literacy Empowerment: Demystifying the Capital Markets”.This all-new seminar represents a unique opportunity to enhance women’s financial literacy and empower them to take control of their financial futures. By providing education, support, and networking opportunities, this seminar will contribute to closing the gender gap in financial participation and fostering a community of informed and confident women investors. Beth Burns is a financial empowerment coach, speaker, and author. Her most recent book is Inner Strength, Outer Success: A Savvy Gal Guide to Financial Empowerment. Beth has a BS in Engineering from Michigan State University and an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago. She has worked in the capital markets for over 30 years in various capacities, including mergers and acquisitions, portfolio management, investor relations, and investment management. On Sunday, May 18 from 12:30 to 2 p.m., the museum will host an immersive Sound Bath session led by sound healing expert, Terry Mahoney. The session will envelop participants in soothing and restorative vibrations. Guests are encouraged to bring water, yoga mats, blankets, and pillows to enhance their comfort during the experience.
