Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation (NVCCF) presents its 30th Annual Profiles of Courage dinner and auction at Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. The event includes a cocktail hour, dinner, presentation of honorees, silent and live auctions, and entertainment.
The event proudly honors children served by NVCCF and supporters of the foundation. All proceeds benefit NVCCF’s Project A.R.K. (Aids & Resources for Kids), The Caring Place, NVCCF’s adult services program, and financial support programs for kids and adults in treatment. NVCCF offers 40+ psychological, emotional, educational, and financial support services for families of children suffering from cancer and life-threatening illnesses, as well as programs for adults diagnosed with cancer living in the Southern Nevada community.
“We are eager to highlight people and companies who support our efforts in this community as we raise greatly needed funds to meet the needs of diagnosed children and adults,” said Jeff Gordon, NVCCF president and CEO. “We are fortunate to provide over 30 years of service in our community to critically ill children and adults touched by cancer who embody courage and hope as they fight a daily battle against disease. We are proud to honor and serve them.” NVCCF will honor several “heroes,” children and adults who benefit from NVCCF programs, for their strength and courage. Awards include:
“The Special Angel:” This award will be presented to the family of Camilla Villareal-Diaz whose spirit will live on in the hearts of all those she touched before losing her battle against cancer.
“Children of Courage:” Siblings Kaison and Graceyn Eisenberg as well as Sydney Armstrong, will each receive this award for demonstrating bravery and courage through the challenges of battling disease and providing strength to those around them.
“Heart of Education & Student of the Year” Brett Torino Scholarship will be awarded to Ismael Cota-Chavarin for his determination in education during her fight against disease. Also, Wendy Alvarado will receive the “Building the Future: Southwest Specialty Contractors Scholarship” for her excellence in education during her fight against recurring cancer. And Ethan Garcia will be awarded the “Mike & Julie Carlson Success in Education Scholarship,” for his success in education.
“Person of Courage:” Mercedes Warrick will receive this award for her strength, resilience, and courage in her continued fight against breast cancer.
