During Hunger Action Month in September, Nevada Public Radio (NVPR) will host its annual Fall Membership Campaign, running from September 9 through September 20, 2024. Contributions can be made by visiting KNPR.org.
To benefit Three Square Food Bank, NVPR members will have the option to donate meals to Three Square in lieu of receiving traditional thank you gifts when they make their pledge of support, with MGM Resorts International (MGM Resorts) covering the value of up to 60,000 meals. Three Square is Southern Nevada’s only food bank, providing food assistance to the residents of Lincoln, Nye, Esmeralda and Clark counties.
“Our partnership with Three Square Food Bank and MGM Resorts International is a testament to the power of our community when we collaborate. Our team at Nevada Public Radio works daily to keep our listeners informed, and through efforts like this, we’re also able to do our part in helping food-insecure members in our community,” said Favian Perez, CEO of Nevada Public Radio. “There’s an amplifying effect that happens when we collaborate. The end result is a more resilient community. We’re thankful to the partners and listeners that make it all possible.”
“Thank you to MGM Resorts and Nevada Public Radio for their generous support during the NVPR Fall Membership Campaign,” said Beth Martino, President and CEO of Three Square Food Bank. “With food insecurity rising due to inflation and higher living costs, MGM Resorts’ commitment to nonprofits is helping us tackle these urgent challenges. Member contributions are vital in addressing food insecurity and strengthening our community.”
Feeding America’s 2024 Map the Meal Gap study revealed that there are 341,480 community members, or one in seven, struggling with hunger and one in five children lives in a food-insecure household.
