In September, during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Southern Nevadans will be asked to donate to national childhood cancer causes at retail stores, home raffle giveaways, television ads and online. While the intention is admirable, it is likely that little—possibly none—of those funds will help a child who is currently battling cancer in Southern Nevada.
For that reason, Cure 4 The Kids Foundation (C4K) is asking residents of Southern Nevada to consider “Keeping it Local” during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month by donating to C4K, where Southern Nevada children facing the toughest battle of their lives will benefit from your charitable gift.
Cure 4 The Kids Foundation is Southern Nevada’s only pediatric cancer and rare disease treatment center. It accepts ALL patients from Nevada and nearby states diagnosed with cancer or other rare diseases, whether they have medical insurance or not. Donations given to national childhood cancer causes do not benefit C4K and do not provide funds to cover the cost of treatment for children in Southern Nevada.
“Since our founding in 2007, we have made it possible for young patients to receive high-quality medical treatment in their hometown. Patients do better when they don’t have to travel for medical care, and it’s less stressful for the family, which doesn’t have to incur travel and hotel costs and time away from work,” said Annette Logan-Parker, Founder and Chief Advocacy and Innovation Officer. “Cure 4 The Kids Foundation receives no funding from national childhood cancer charities who ask for your donation. We want Southern Nevadans to realize that when they give to Cure 4 The Kids Foundation, they are supporting our efforts to help children in Southern Nevada who need treatment.”
