The Vegas Viking Lodge Sons of Norway is inviting the public to celebrate Syttende Mai from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 20 at Boulder City Veteran’s Memorial Park, located at 1650 Buchanan Blvd.
The picnic will feature a live parade, food, music and games for attendees, as well as a splash pad and playground. The Lodge will provide meat, buns and water to drink. Guests are encouraged to bring friends, family, lawn chairs, Norway flags and costumes and their favorite potluck dishes. Games will include Bingo, Cornhole and Toss the Lutefisk.

“The Syttende Mai celebration is so important to our Norwegian culture,” said Vegas Viking Lodge Sons of Norway President Karen Holien Buehrer. “Our Constitution Day is as important as Independence Day is to Americans. This year, we would like to share it with the community.”
Syttende Mai, or Seventeenth of May in Norwegian, celebrates core Norwegian values and national identity and is an annual commemoration of Norway’s constitution, which was signed in Eidsvoll, Norway on May 17, 1814.
