Turn small steps into bold strides toward a world without lung disease by walking in this year’s annual American Lung Association LUNG FORCE Walk to support the organization’s life-saving work in Nevada. The event takes place on May 13, 2023, at Cornerstone Park, 1600 Wigwam Pkwy, Henderson, 89074. The Walk begins at 6:30 p.m.

Registration is free at www.LUNGFORCE.org/LasVegas, but fundraising is encouraged as the LUNG FORCE Walk provides critical funds for lifesaving research, early detection initiatives, and awareness outreach to vulnerable communities.
Lung cancer is the #1 cancer killer in the U.S., and 2 of out 3 people diagnosed are never-smokers or former smokers. Survival rate is only 23%, among the lowest of all cancer types, which is why early detection is critical.
However, there is hope. The survival rate has increased 33% in the past ten years and we aim to keep this positive trend going.
“Nobody deserves to have lung cancer,” said Shannon Proctor, American Lung Association in Nevada Executive Director. “Here in Nevada, we are proud to have launched initiatives including Lung Cancer Courage Kits that provide those diagnosed with the disease help with treatment, answers to difficult questions and support. We are committed to helping everyone breathe easier. Because when you can’t breathe, nothing else matters.”

Check-in for this year’s LUNG FORCE Walk begins at 5 p.m. The short evening walk begins at 6:30 p.m. After the walk at approximately 7:30 p.m., friends and family of those impacted by lung cancer and lung disease will hold a tree lighting to honor their loved ones.
