Update: supplies for teachers will also be available at the back-toschool-fair!
The LGBTQ Center of Southern Nevada will hold a pirate-themed back-to-school fair on Saturday, July 16 from 10 am to 1 pm.
There will be costumed characters dressed as pirates, treasure maps leading the way to 1000 backpacks and school supplies, and community partners offering access to essential resources.
“We expect high demand for backpacks and school supplies due to inflation and rising costs affecting at-risk families,” says Donna Felix Barrows, Grants and Compliance Coordinator at The Center. “Last year we handed out 300 backpacks within our first hour, so we’ve reached out to the community to make a more significant impact this year.”
The Center supports a diverse and inclusive community, including the vulnerable population living in the neighborhood. They plan to serve 1000 students thanks to the support of Healthplan of Nevada, Molina Healthcare, SilverSummit Healthplan and UNLV School of Public Health.
WHEN: Saturday, July 16, 2022, from 10 am to 1 pm
WHERE: 401 S. Maryland Parkway

Do I need to reserve? Should I bring my EBT and medicaid card for proof of need? I can’t get there until 12pm, do you think I will miss out?
I would call the LBGTQ Center directly. : (702) 733-9800.
