LAS VEGAS, NV – HELP of Southern Nevada, local nonprofit celebrating 50 years of serving the Las Vegas homeless community, was chosen to receive a $30,000 grant courtesy of PetSmart Charities. The funds are dedicated to covering the costs of pet deposits for 75 homeless individuals seeking housing assistance, at an average cost of $400 per pet deposit.
“One of the many deterrents for our homeless community when securing housing is the risk of having to leave behind their beloved pet due to restrictions and additional costs,” says HELP of Southern Nevada Communications Director, Abby Quinn. “For so many people, pets are a source of comfort and hope. With the help of this generous grant from PetSmart Charities, we are able to keep more households intact and give our clients the security of remaining a family with their beloved companions.”
“We know pet parents in at-risk situations often feel they have few options beyond surrendering their beloved pet,” said Jenny Aho, regional relationship at PetSmart Charities. “We’re thrilled to partner with HELP of Southern Nevada to provide innovative solutions to keep more people and pets together in Las Vegas.”
