Stories of extraordinary bravery, from confronting active assailants to rescuing hostages and saving lives in crisis, will take center stage at the 12th annual Sheriff Salutes the Best of the Badge Gala, hosted by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation at Wynn Las Vegas on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025.
This evening will honor 49 LVMPD officers and a K-9, recognized with multiple commendations for extraordinary acts of bravery, heroism, and service in 11 critical incidents.
The Best of the Badge Gala is the only event where the sheriff presents the department’s highest commendations to officers for their courage in the line of duty. Honorees include first responders to the UNLV and Las Vegas Athletic Club active assailant attacks, officers who carried out a nine-hour hostage rescue, life-saving interventions during suicidal crises, and a Purple Heart recipient who was hit by a DUI driver and survived a devastating motorcycle crash while serving the community. Officers will also be recognized for split-second decisions that protected lives during violent domestic incidents, car fires, and other life-threatening emergencies.
In addition to honoring the Medal of Honor, Medal of Valor, Purple Heart, and other distinguished commendations, the gala will also feature the Sheriff’s Honors Awards:
The Regina Coward Community Policing Award, recognizing excellence in community partnership.
The Best of Staff Award, recognizing outstanding civilian personnel of the LVMPD.
Proceeds from the gala benefit the LVMPD Foundation, supporting community engagement initiatives that bring officers and residents together, foster youth mentorship, and provide vital resources to families in need.
