U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) received the National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB) prestigious Congressional Workforce Champion Award for her commitment to crafting policies that directly benefit workers and businesses.
Rosen was nominated for the honor by Workforce Connections, Southern Nevada’s Local Workforce Development Board.
The nomination highlighted Rosen’s numerous efforts, including her support for the Skilled Workforce for America Act and the Cyber Ready Workforce Act. Rosen also played a key role in securing $800,000 in Community Projects Funding from the U.S. Department of Labor to support Industry Sector Partnerships in Southern Nevada. This funding enhances job training initiatives, equips workers with the necessary skills to secure high-paying and sustainable careers, and provides employers with the talent.
“Senator Rosen has consistently championed bipartisan legislation aimed at supporting workforce development and providing incentives for career training in high-demand industries,” said Workforce Connections Executive Director Jaime Cruz. “Here at home, Rosen and her staff actively support local initiatives and activities inside Nevada’s American Job Centers, known as EmployNV Hubs. We are thrilled to see her acknowledged by the largest workforce development board association in the nation.”
Rosen received the award earlier this month during a ceremony at the Capitol Visitors Center in Washington, D.C., during NAWB’s annual convening, The Forum. The NAWB Awards recognize the most innovative and impactful work being done by workforce development boards and their partners.
The National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB) represents and advocates for the nation’s more than 580 workforce development boards.
