The Rita Deanin Abbey Art Museum will offer an innovative opera experience led by vocalist and visionary interdisciplinary creator JU-EH at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 16.
“Milk Tea Opera House” is JU-EH’s vision to redefine the term “opera house” for the next century. It is also an initiative to create opportunities to influence the dimensionality of voice in the context of time and space in today’s social context.
During the 90-minute session, participants will immerse themselves in Abbey’s artworks and participate in a sonic operatic collaboration event. The session is designed to be an interdisciplinary, interactive, and intriguing experience for creative thinkers, cultural wanderers, and root seekers. Each “Milk Tea Opera House” session is a site-specific and individualized creative process with JU-EH and a group of participants. Musical actions will reveal shapes between the internal voice and the external sonic environment throughout the session.

JU-EH, a trained soprano vocalist, studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and Mannes School of Music in New York. JU-EH is a conceptual curator specializing in developing non-human roles in contemporary opera. Additionally, he is a composer, director, and sound conceptualist. He has initiated projects that defy genre, period, or categorization, such as the musical drama “The Living Dying Opera” and album “Operatic Electric,” among others.
The Rita Deanin Abbey Art Museum is a unique and hidden gem in northwest Las Vegas. It features an astonishing and diverse array of art entirely by its namesake, Rita Deanin Abbey. The 10,500-square-foot museum captures the extraordinary breadth of Abbey’s art, from abstract expressionist paintings to figure drawings, monumental sculptures, and beyond. The museum property also features a courtyard, desert garden and outdoor sculpture garden.
Tickets for the “Milk Tea Opera House” session cost $27 each. You must purchase tickets in advance by visiting https://rda-museum.square.site/events as space is limited.
