Shell USA (Shell) and Green Valley Grocery donated $42,000 to local non-profit Three Square Food Bank as part of “The Giving Pump” initiative, which concluded at the end of September.
During the campaign, over 70 Green Valley Grocery gas stations donated combined proceeds from the designated Giving Pump with no additional costs to customers. Rick Crawford, Founder of Green Valley Grocery, presented the donation at Three Square’s campus on Friday, November 3, 2023.
“The contributions from The Giving Pump initiative are going to make a huge difference for vulnerable members in our community,” said Beth Martino, president and CEO of Three Square Food Bank. “Partners like Green Valley Grocery and Shell make a huge impact to our cause and support our ability to provide ample resources to the one in eight individuals struggling with food insecurity in Southern Nevada.”
As Southern Nevada’s only food bank, Three Square’s mission is to provide wholesome food to hungry people, while passionately pursuing a hunger-free community. The non-profit organization combines food banking, food rescue and ready-to-eat meals to be the most complete food solution in its community to reach struggling individuals and families at risk of hunger.
Green Valley Grocery actively engages with the community to provide high-quality and reliable fuel services and a positive in-store shopping experience for its residents. It strives to live up to its mission by building lasting relationships with customers, with the goal of serving the surrounding community in the best ways possible.
“We chose Three Square for the Giving Pump initiative because the food bank is making a real difference in the Southern Nevada region,” said Juan Rivera, General Manager of Crawford Oil, Green Valley Grocery’s parent company. “The Crawford Family has had strong ties to Three Square for many years and supporting the organization through The Giving Pump is an important way to amplify our existing relationship. This is an opportunity to drive our local initiatives and provide funding within the Las Vegas market to those who need it the most.”
The two-month Giving Pump initiative began August 1 and concluded on September 30, 2023, as part of Shell’s Force For Good initiative to drive positive change in communities. For the third year, The Giving Pump could be found across 48 states, where a portion of the purchases made by consumers who used the colorful designated pump at 7,500 stations across the US supported children-based charities locally and nationally. The first two years of the Giving Pump raised nearly $5 million for hundreds of local and national charities.
