Three Square Food Bank’s annual Holiday Match Challenge is back for its 14th year.
Contributions made by the campaign’s matching sponsors can allow Three Square to double the impact of donations made through the end of the year, providing twice as many meals to Southern Nevadans struggling with food insecurity. For every $1 donated during this special match period, Three Square will be able to provide up to six meals for those in need.
This year’s Holiday Match Challenge is supported by area businesses and community leaders, including Boyd Gaming Corporation, Nevada Gold Mines operated by Barrick and Intermountain Healthcare.
More than 274,000 individuals, constituting one in eight people, find themselves unable to obtain proper nourishment to sustain healthy and active lifestyles. This includes more than 90,000 children, or one in six. While hunger is not seasonal, the need for food assistance will become greater as families try to make the most of the holiday season while facing the high cost of living and other everyday needs.
“Unfortunately for many individuals and families, hunger is a persistent concern and doesn’t stop during the holiday season,” said Beth Martino, president and CEO of Three Square Food Bank. “The generous, heartfelt support Three Square receives through this initiative is vital to the battle against hunger in Southern Nevada. We are thankful to be part of a community that ensures everyone has access to nourishing meals.”
