The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, announces its upcoming August programs, including “The Life We Chose: Russell Bufalino, Billy D’Elia and the Jimmy Hoffa Murder” as well as “Organized Crime, Terrorism and Saddam Hussein: The FBI and Global Security.” Additionally, The Underground speakeasy and distillery invites guests to enjoy weekly live music, cocktail specials and more.

The Life We Chose: Russell Bufalino, Billy D’Elia and the Jimmy Hoffa Murder

Description: Russell Bufalino was one of the most powerful Mafia bosses of the 20th century. Based in Pennsylvania’s coal country, Bufalino’s influence extended to Philadelphia, Buffalo, Atlantic City, New York and beyond. After the Quiet Don’s death in 1994, Billy D’Elia, Bufalino’s “adopted” son and longtime righthand man, took over the crime family and became a major organized crime figure himself. Journalist Matt Birkbeck obtained exclusive interviews with D’Elia that provide a candid look inside the Bufalino empire and explosive new insights into the murder of labor leader Jimmy Hoffa.

Organized Crime, Terrorism and Saddam Hussein: The FBI and Global Security

Description: The brutal effects of organized crime are not limited to the crimes themselves. In some cases, the proceeds of organized crime are used to fund terrorist groups, intensifying threats to global peace and security. Ray Johnson, assistant special agent in charge of the FBI field office in Las Vegas, and retired special agent George Piro will discuss the growing nexus between organized crime and terrorism. Piro will also describe his experiences interrogating Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein after his capture by U.S. forces in 2003.
