In the hope of creating a lasting impact in the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals in our community during the final days of Pride month, veteran NFL defensive end Carl Nassib has launched a $30,000 match challenge at donate.rayzeapp.com/nassib.
This initiative aims to support The Center, a beacon of hope for over 30 years, in its mission to uplift LGBTQ+ individuals, their families, and the local community.
June holds a special place in LGBTQ+ history, as it honors the 1969 Stonewall Uprising and marks the anniversary of granting same-sex couples equal marriage rights. “This progress is a testament to the ongoing fight for equality and inclusivity. The Center is steadfast in its commitment to serving LGBTQ+ youth, seniors, the transgender community, and at-risk individuals,” says John Waldron, Ed.D, chief executive officer of The Center. “Carl’s generous challenge will go a long way towards transforming lives and building a more inclusive community.”
“Las Vegas will always hold a special place in my heart, and I ask you to make a donation to a wonderful place,” says Nassib, a former player for the Las Vegas Raiders and the first active NFL player to come out as gay. His generous $30,000 match challenge will amplify the impact of donations to The Center, and his commitment to equality and inclusivity is a powerful symbol of support for Southern Nevada’s LGBTQ+ community.
The Center’s vital programs, including mentorship programs, workshops, safe spaces, support groups, and essential resources, make a tangible difference in the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals and the at-risk population The Center serves.
