In an effort to collect new socks for the homeless and other disadvantaged community members, SilverSummit Healthplan announced today it has partnered with The Center to hold a “Sock Drive” until the end of March.
The donated new socks will be distributed in hygiene kits during routine monthly distributions put on by staff from The Center and the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.
Those who would like to donate are asked to drop off new pairs of men’s and women’s socks during normal business hours at one of three locations:
SilverSummit Healthplan – 2500 N. Buffalo Dr., Suite 250, Las Vegas NV 89128
The Center – 401 S. Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV 89101
The Just One Project – 711 North Rancho Drive, Suite 100, Las Vegas, NV 89106
“Many times people don’t realize the need others have for basic hygiene products, socks and undergarments,” said SilverSummit Healthplan President & CEO Eric Schmacker. “SilverSummit Healthplan is an avid supporter of multiple community-based organizations that assist our community and our neighbors. This sock drive is one of the many ways we try to help others and make an impact in their lives.”
Following the collection of socks, SilverSummit Healthplan and The Center will compile new hygiene kits that will be given to individuals in need throughout the Valley starting in April. The kits will also contain hygiene products and referral resources as well as important health and Medicaid information from SilverSummit Healthplan.
“We value our collaborative efforts with partners like SilverSummit Healthplan to help those in unfortunate circumstances,” said The Center’s Chief Operating Officer Brian Hosier. “When we distribute these kits every month, the recipients are truly happy to see fresh socks and other hygiene products that they seek. Making a difference in their lives is a real blessing.”
