The PENTA Cares Foundation, the charitable arm of the general contractor The PENTA Building Group, raised $165,000 for three Southern Nevada nonprofits during its 20th Annual Charity Golf Classic. The event welcomed golfers representing dozens of companies, vendors and clients.
As a result of the event, PENTA CARES donated $55,000 to each of the three nonprofits: the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation (NVCCF), the Women’s Development Center (WDC), and the Nevada Military Support Alliance (NMSA). The annual funds raised by PENTA CARES help support critical services for each organization.
“For more than 20 years, we’ve been hosting events like this to empower local charitable organizations within our communities,” said John Cannito, President and CEO of The PENTA Building Group. “Having raised more than a million dollars since we began this golf tournament, it has proven year after year to be a valuable fundraising tool for causes we believe in. We thank the incredible support of our clients, trade partners, vendors and PENTA CARES volunteers.”
Since 1993, the mission of Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation is to provide social, educational, financial and psychological support services and programs to families of all children diagnosed with life threatening or critical illnesses such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, sickle cell, renal, blood and immunologic diseases and to provide healing arts and wellness programs to adults touched by cancer as well as to chronically ill children and their caregivers.
WDC provides transitional/affordable housing and related services to at risk and homeless families. In 1990, WDC began administering its Transitional Housing (TH) Program, targeting homeless women with children. Since that time, WDC has expanded its mission to address the gaps in housing/support services for individuals and families in need in Clark County.
Since 2003, the NMSA works to organize and promote the recognition, support and appreciation for men and women in the armed forces. The donation from PENTA CARES will continue supporting families of fallen service members and those who have returned home from the battlefield with injuries.
Over more than two decades, PENTA CARES has donated more than $11 million to 350 organizations companywide, and each year, PENTA employees and their families volunteer thousands of hours to nonprofit organizations in Las Vegas, Southern California and Phoenix.
