HopeLink of Southern Nevada, the nonprofit focused on preventing homelessness, has announced Aaron Sheets as its new chief executive officer.
Sheets previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer where he focused on HopeLink’s various programs and services, as well as their development and execution while providing leadership and direction for the HopeLink case managers. Sheets has been with the nonprofit for more than 10 years and will lead the nonprofit through an ambitious growth and capital campaign.
“Southern Nevada still continues to struggle with housing insecurity as a community, making the work we do, unfortunately, more important than ever,” said Scot Rutledge, chairman of the board for HopeLink of Southern Nevada. “Our focus remains on providing services and programs that will help families and individuals remain whole. But we also have ambitious growth plans to reach and serve even more of our friends and neighbors in crisis. Aaron has been a driving force behind HopeLink’s greatest achievements, and we know his leadership will be invaluable as we embark on this new, arduous chapter of work.”
During his tenure at HopeLink, Sheets’ leadership helped guide the organization through tremendous growth periods including the use of more than $20 million in direct client services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sheets was previously the president of a local contracting company for 24 years where he successfully managed a staff of over 200 with a $20 million annual budget. He moved into social services out of a deep desire to serve his community.
“I’m honored to continue to serve HopeLink, an organization that I have loved being a part of for the past ten years,” said Aaron Sheets. “As we continue to serve the community and fulfill our mission to prevent homelessness throughout Southern Nevada, we’re embarking on an aggressive capital campaign to provide services in a way we’ve never been able to before.”
When he’s not leading the nonprofit and its dedicated staff of 60, Sheets enjoys spending time with his wife Michelle, their five children and nine grandchildren. He serves on the Board of Directors for Foresight Development, a low-income housing developer, and volunteers with local churches to help them develop their operational teams and maximize their community impact.
An alumnus of Arizona State University, Sheets earned degrees in Marketing, Management and Business Administration.
