Community members who live near the Whitney Recreation Center on the county’s east side can now access no-cost employment help at a new EmployNV Career Hub embedded within the facility, located at 5712 E. Missouri Ave., Las Vegas, 89122.
The newest EmployNV Career Hub opened on Thursday, February 8, with a ribbon cutting and hiring event.
The new location was made possible thanks to Commissioner Jim Gibson, who represents District G. Commissioner Gibson has long championed dedicating space within the popular center to provide career and training services to those who live nearby.
“We’ve been working on an EmployNV Career Hub inside the Whitney Recreation Center for several years, so we are thrilled to open the doors officially,” said Commissioner Gibson. “This new hub can help neighbors learn more about in-demand careers and gain the skills to earn a living wage. The impact will be profound.”
Data shows about 8,000 residents in the zip codes adjacent to the Whitney Recreation Center are unemployed, and more than 60,000 adults and young adults in the area are eligible for the EmployNV Career Hub’s training and employment services.
The 745-square-foot EmployNV Career Hub has free internet, and dedicated staff on-site to help connect job seekers to work-based training, education, and employment opportunities. Staff will also work with businesses looking for skilled workers and other help.
The hub will be open 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Learn more at EmployNVCareerHub.org.
