Nearly 400 community leaders came together in celebration of the Juneteenth holiday at the inaugural Black Girl Magic Juneteenth Jubilee Luncheon! This sold-out event hosted by the Public Education Foundation celebrated the magical women driving education forward, including:
- Nikki Fargas, President, Las Vegas Aces
- Ebere Arum, Director of Community Relations, Las Vegas Raiders
- Pamela Goynes-Brown, City of North Las Vegas Mayor
- Patricia Lee, Nevada Supreme Court Justice
- Dr. Celese Rayford, Region 2 Superintendent, Clark County School District
Dignitaries in attendance included: First Lady Donna Lombardo, Councilman Cedric Crear, The Honorable Shelley Berkley, The Honorable Tierra Jones, The Honorable Belinda Harris, University of Nevada, Las Vegas President Keith Whitfield, Nevada State College President DeRionne Pollard, and Sandra Douglass Morgan.
Proceeds from the event supported the inaugural Black Girl Magic Scholarship, which will provide college and career opportunities for four Black students who identify as female or non-binary through the Public Education Foundation’s Scholarships Plus program, with a special focus on students attending HBCUs.
Aristocrat Gaming, Caesars Entertainment, Mirage operated by Hard Rock, R&R Foundation, Human Rights Campaign, 100 Black Men, Lark McCarthy and Michael D Thomas, M.D., Destinations by Design, and Flower by Designs sponsored the event.
