The Nevada Chapter of the National Hemophilia looks to brighten Christmas for eight (8) of their most at-need families this holiday season.
Bleeding disorders, while rare, are hereditary with often times multiple members of the family living with it. They are life-threatening, debilitating, and expensive to treat. A child with severe Hemophilia will spend over $200,000 annually to prevent bleeding. Some children and adults build up inhibitors to the treatment and the costs can exceed $1 million per year. The Nevada Chapter’s Adopt-A-Family program will support those families in need of some extra Christmas spirit this year.
Of course, Santa’s reindeers can help deliver presents and so the Nevada Chapter has created Amazon wish lists in each of Santa’s reindeers’ names to represent each family.
Those looking to support a family can adopt an entire family and fulfill their wish list or order presents directly through the Amazon list for each family. That list is available here: https://hfnv.org/get-involved/volunteer/adopt-a-family-2022.html
Additionally, generous donors may also donate to the organization and specify gift cards or cash donations be made towards the Adopt-A-Family program to support teenagers and other family members not looking for toys this season. To donate, go to https://hfnv.org.
“We aim to provide holistic services for our families — from support for the individual(s) living with a bleeding disorder to their families as well. The holiday spirit in this community is unsurpassed and we hope to be able to tap into that just a little to give some of our families some extra merriment this year,” said Jacob Murdock, executive director of the Nevada Chapter of the National Hemophilia Association. “This is just one further extension of what we can do to support them, and we hope to grow this each year and be able to assist more families have a joyous holiday season that everyone deserves.”
