DISCOVERY Children’s Museum, in partnership with Subaru of Las Vegas, hosted a special event to mark the official opening of the museum’s newest Eco City “business,” Subaru Car Care Center. Fully equipped with a replica of the Subaru Ascent and showroom, families will become mechanics or customers while learning helpful ways to be environmentally friendly that apply to the automotive industry.
“This partnership with Subaru of Las Vegas is such an amazing opportunity to educate our visitors on the importance of making eco-friendly choices and how to apply those skills in the real world,” said Melissa Kaiser, CEO of DISCOVERY Children’s Museum. “The new Subaru Car Care Center lets children and their families work together in a variety of different educational and role playing activities that helps them learn about “green” living while applying problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills.”
“My very first visit to the Discovery Children’s Museum stirred the creative kid still living inside of me. To be able to experience the wonders of everyday life without the boundaries of ‘look but don’t touch,” said Burton Hughes, Findlay’s Subaru of Las Vegas. “At Subaru, we know the greatest learning happens when students have the tools that inspire new ways of thinking and seeing the world, which is a core value statement of The Subaru Love Promise. And at Findlay’s Subaru of Las Vegas, we live to show that love to our community—upholding that promise with wonderful opportunities like supporting the Discovery Children’s Museum with our Subaru Car Care exhibit.”
Designed to teach families on how to make more eco-conscious decisions, Subaru Car Care Center allows children to learn how real-life mechanics properly dispose of “oil” and other “fluids” with a mock oil-disposal unit. In addition, visitors can get under the hood of the car to understand how to check and refill fluid levels as well as change air filters. The center also has a display of tools to showcase what tools are used for different job tasks. Subaru of Las Vegas also installed an innovative, digital showroom connected to the center where visitors can explore and learn about current Subaru models and features offered.
In addition, Subaru of Las Vegas has selected DISCOVERY Children’s Museum as one of its charity recipients for its annual Share the Love Campaign, which runs November 2019 through January 2020. The national campaign will donate $250 per car sold at Subaru dealerships to DISCOVERY. Las Vegas dealerships will contribute an additional $50 donation on top of every car sold throughout the Share the Love Campaign. For the last 11 years, the Share the Love initiative has raised more than $140 million for national charities and more than 1,170 hometown charities.
