From Tuesday, May 16 to Thursday, May 18, deserving 5th grade students from Robert E. Lake Elementary School received the first-annual SAHARA Cares Award.
Created by the school to recognize one outstanding student per 5th grade class in honor of SAHARA Las Vegas’ community partnership, the SAHARA Cares Award was presented to individuals embodying the characteristics of the acronym ROAR: respectful, on task, accountable and responsible.
SAHARA Las Vegas Team Members invited to attend the award ceremonies included Stacy King, vice president of human resources; Erika Hernandez, director of human resources; Michelle Sandoval, vice president of hotel operations; Natasha Rychly, special events and promotions; Mike Altizer, executive director of casino operations; Derek Morishita, executive director of restaurants; Victor Escalera, executive steward; and Nelly Smith, manager of slot operations.
“We are so grateful for our community partnership with SAHARA Las Vegas and their Team Members,” said Paola Zepher, principal of Robert E. Lake Elementary School. “These individuals continue to inspire our students to not only to pursue a valuable education but also show respect and kindness to one another.”
“SAHARA Las Vegas’ Team Members are committed to serving the community as positive role models,” said Paul Hobson, general manager, SAHARA Las Vegas. “We want to show young students that they are capable of anything and inspire them to follow their passions.”
