This week, Three Square donated three GMC food delivery trucks to its long-time agency partners: International Church of Las Vegas (ICLV), Truth Christian Ministries International (TCMI) and Just One Project. The trucks will allow the agencies to save more food and grocery products and make an even greater impact in their pursuit of a hunger-free community.
“Three Square selected these agencies to receive the trucks because of their exemplary efforts in grocery rescue and mobile distribution,” said Larry Scott, COO of Three Square. “In just one year, they collectively distributed more than 3.2 million pounds of food, serving over 5,000 households each month! Thanks to agency partners like these we’re able to make a very real and positive impact in the fight against hunger.”
With these trucks –which Three Square previously used for its Childhood Nutrition and Food Rescue programs – ICLV, TCMI and Just One Project will now have the capacity to haul approximately 7,500 pounds of rescued food and grocery product.
Three Square has grown tremendously in the 12 years since its inception and now has a fleet of 31 trucks, which travel an average of 40,000 miles each month to rescue approximately 500,000 pounds of food from grocery retailers across Southern Nevada. This allows Southern Nevada’s only food bank to provide more than 135,000 meals a day to the one in eight valley residents who don’t know where their next meal is coming from.
