Three Square Food Bank has announced the hiring of Brian Rice and Marissa Shoop to its leadership team, bringing decades of collective business, development and advocacy experience to the nonprofit as it continues its mission to provide wholesome food to hungry people, while passionately pursuing a hunger-free community.
Brian Rice is now Vice President of Operations, responsible for overseeing and optimizing the organization’s food procurement and warehousing as well as assuring the quality of food distributed to agency partners.
Rice, a business operations executive with more than 20 years of experience, excelled in his former role at Nevada GrantLab, where he oversaw organizational assessments, work plan development and project implementation, ensuring technical assistance was tailored to partner needs. With expertise in budgeting, vendor management and compliance, Rice managed grant award administration, guided subrecipient monitoring and enhanced data collection for effective performance. A skilled trainer and thought leader, he advocates for nonprofit excellence and maximizing federal grants to benefit Nevadans. He received his bachelor’s degree in business from Capella University.
Marissa Shoop will serve as Vice President of Programs and Partner Services, leveraging her expertise in program development, partnership cultivation and resource optimization to address the needs of Southern Nevadans.
With nearly 20 years of experience in nonprofit social services, Shoop has held various roles, specializing in housing, domestic violence advocacy, workforce development, services for older adults and caregiver support. In her previous role at Nevada HAND, Inc., her aptitude for strategic and operational management ensured the delivery of high-quality services to over 8,000 low-income families and seniors. Dedicated to building strong partnerships and creating lasting impact, Shoop is an active leader in several community initiatives. She received her master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in nonprofit management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a bachelor’s degree in criminology with a focus on victimology from California State University, Fresno.
