Goodwill of Southern Nevada (Goodwill®) successfully completed its fourth annual Holiday Shopping Spree event on Friday, November 15 at their Blue Diamond store.
A total of 50 children served by five local nonprofits, FEAT: Families for Effective Autism Treatment, Children’s Advocacy Alliance, Foster Kinship, Helping Hands of Vegas Valley and Speedway Children’s Charities, received $100 Goodwill® gift cards to shop throughout the store.
Santa Claus kicked off the event by arriving in style, aboard a Clark County Fire engine to greet the children, who then entered the store and were chaperoned by volunteers from Clark County Fire and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department during their shopping experience.
“This event is all about building community partnerships while giving back to children and families in need,” said Richard “Rick” D. Neal Jr., president & CEO of Goodwill of Southern Nevada. “At Goodwill, we pride ourselves in giving back to our community, and our Holiday Shopping Spree is just one of the ways we try to bring holiday spirit to those who need it most. Year after year, it’s rewarding to see the look on children’s faces when they are greeted by Santa, as well as families who so appreciate this special opportunity.”
This event is held every year around the holidays and is meant to help give local children and their families a much-needed boost. A similar event, Christmas in July, is also held annually to bring mid-summer cheer to the community.
