Bank of America recently announced $340,000 in grants to 17 Las Vegas nonprofit organizations to drive meaningful and sustainable progress to help tackle society’s biggest challenges.
This first round of grants the company awards to local nonprofits throughout the year is focused on improving the lives of individuals and families by investing in health and jobs.
In Nevada, residents experience several barriers to economic success, including high unemployment rates. The state has also experienced higher grocery prices compared to other parts of the country. With the cost of various living expenses rising, nonprofits that support basic needs, workforce development and education are more crucially tasked with assisting Southern Nevada community members that are in need.
Economic growth is directly correlated to a community’s access to quality education, skills training and employment opportunities. That’s why Bank of America is focused on supporting a range of workforce development opportunities, including education, upskilling and reskilling programs that will help individuals and families stabilize and advance.
Organizations like Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada, which works to enable all young people to reach their full potential, will be more equipped to fund their career exploration programs. The Asian Community Development Council (ACDC) in Las Vegas will be able to strengthen their Healthy Asians and Pacific Islanders (HAPI) Clinic, which aims to meet the healthcare needs for Asian & Pacific Islanders (API) by providing quality health services while removing language barriers. The nonprofit is committed to the healthcare needs of the underserved, uninsured and underinsured population.
“Partnering with organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada and the Asian Community Development Council to address important issues like youth workforce development and healthcare access is part of our commitment to creating real change in Las Vegas,” said Al Welch, president of Bank of America Las Vegas. “Investing in Las Vegas nonprofits demonstrates how Bank of America is taking action to provide the resources and support needed to help build thriving communities long-term.”
Other organizations receiving grants include: Clark County Public Education Foundation, Collaboration Center Foundation, Communities In Schools Of Nevada, Edward Kline Memorial Homeless Veterans Fund, Foundation For An Independent Tomorrow, Future Smiles, Help Of Southern Nevada, Junior Achievement Of Southern Nevada, Olive Crest Nevada, Opportunity Village Foundation, Project Marilyn, Spread The Word Nevada, Tech Impact, Three Square Food Bank and UNLV Foundation.
These grants build on more than $7.5 million Bank of America provided to Las Vegas organizations since 2018 and are part of the bank’s longstanding commitment to supporting economic opportunity for diverse people and communities.
