Jewish Nevada and the Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada (JCC) announced today they are hosting a back-to-school drive to help children and families in need of school supplies ahead of the 2024/2025 school year. The nonprofit organizations are looking for local community members and local business leaders to join in to help provide materials needed for students of all ages.
The J-Cares Back-to-School Drive will provide backpacks filled with school supplies for those in need. Jewish Nevada and JCC will be collecting the following items: Pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, crayons, glue, binders, loose leaf paper, writing pads, and anything else a student may need.
Collection bins will be located at Jewish Nevada’s office (8861 W. Sahara Ave., Suite 120, Las Vegas) from now until August 1. Monetary donations for the drive will also be accepted at www.jewishnevada.org/jcaresbacktoschool. Donated supplies will benefit children from Jewish Family Service Agency, Aishel Avraham, Desert Torah Academy, Yeshiva Day School and more.
Following the drive, the school supplies will be distributed at the Jewish Nevada office on Tuesday, August 6 from 4-6 p.m. Students must have a voucher from one of the participating organizations to receive materials.
“This annual effort is one of the many ways we like to give back through our nonprofit organizations, and helping younger generations get a jump start in their new school year is rewarding to us and extremely beneficial to them,” said Neil Popish, JCC program director.
