Deacon Thomas Roberts, President & CEO of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada (CCSN), has announced that he will step down from his leadership position with the organization at the end of the year.
Roberts has been a steadfast leader and beloved figure at CCSN for the past 11 years. Under his visionary guidance, CCSN has expanded its impact within the community as the need for CCSN services has continued to increase. He has been a steady presence, navigating the nonprofit through various challenges and opportunities with unwavering commitment and passion.
“It has been my honor and privilege to serve and work at Catholic Charities for more than 11 years. The agency team members are my personal heroes in choosing to care for some of the most vulnerable members of our community with such effectiveness, dignity and compassion,” said Roberts. “I will miss my daily interactions with all of them, our clients and our wonderful volunteers and donors. There’s more work to be done to secure and grow the social service safety net in Southern Nevada. All of us have a responsibility to help to provide help and hope for our sisters and brothers in need”.
During his tenure at CCSN, Roberts managed the daily operations with expertise and provided strength and guidance during some of the most challenging periods for Southern Nevada and the nation, including a government shutdown; 1 October; the COVID-19 pandemic, subsequent shutdown and aftermath; the effects of inflation and its impact on seniors and low-income families; and the steady rise of homelessness throughout the valley.

“For over a decade, Deacon Tom Roberts has provided visionary leadership and pastoral outreach to our community’s most vulnerable members,” said Archbishop George Leo Thomas of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Las Vegas and Executive Chairman, Board of Trustees, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada. “He embodies the very best of diaconal ministry—bringing the love of Christ to the underserved and forgotten in our midst. Catholic Charities is committed to carrying out his legacy of love for decades to come.”
“Deacon Tom has done a fantastic job over the past decade growing and refining the outstanding variety of quality services offered by Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada to its clients – The Men’s Emergency Night Shelter, St. Vincent Lied Dining Facility, Meals on Wheels, adoption services, and so much more,” said John Hester, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada. “The CCSN Board of Trustees thanks Deacon Tom for his many years of dedicated service to the agency and its clients, and wishes him the best in his well-deserved retirement beginning next year.”
Roberts will continue to serve in his capacity of President and CEO of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada until the end of 2024 to ensure a smooth transition. The CCSN Board of Trustees will convene an executive search process to source Deacon Roberts’ successor.
