“Happy Xmas (Cancer’s Over)” a holiday-themed song released in October of 2023 and featuring Cure 4 The Kids Foundation patients, Las Vegas celebrities and well-known recording artists has been nominated for an EMMY® award.
This is the first EMMY® nomination on behalf of Cure 4 The Kids Foundation in the organization’s history.
Cure 4 The Kids Foundation director of social media – and music industry veteran – Mitch Koulouris spearheaded the project and produced the 22-track holiday album entitled Christmas 4 The Kids which included a new version of the John Lennon classic “Happy Xmas (Cancer’s Over).” The track was recorded at the Electric Shop Recording Studios In Las Vegas.
The track featured American Idol Casting Producer Kyle Khou and Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter in a dynamic and impassioned vocal performance duet, and utilized Cure 4 The Kids Foundation patients and others singing the track’s chorus. One hundred (100) percent of the proceeds from streaming and downloading of the “Happy Xmas (Cancer’s Over)” track benefited Cure 4 The Kids Foundation, Southern Nevada’s only pediatric cancer and rare disease treatment center.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by my industry peers for a project that meant so much to me,” said Koulouris. “More importantly, this nomination shines a bright light on the important work done each day by Cure 4 The Kids Foundation in saving kids’ lives in Southern Nevada.”
Along with the digital album and single, Koulouris produced and directed the “Happy Xmas (Cancer’s Over)” music video at the state-of-the-art Vū Studios featuring Khou, Carter, Las Vegas celebrities and supporters as well as providers and patients of Cure 4 The Kids Foundation.
The music video for “Happy Xmas (Cancer’s Over)” is nominated in the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Outstanding Musical Composition/Arrangement category in the Pacific Southwest Chapter. EMMY® award winners will be recognized at the chapter’s gala on June 15, 2024, in Rancho Mirage, CA.
