Theme is “Read For A Better World” to learn joyful lessons about empathy & diversity, while winning cool prizes!
Las Vegas – The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District challenges kids and teens to start off the new year reading to win cool prizes as part of the “Read for a Better World” Winter Reading Challenge.
Kids and teens are challenged to read at least 5 hours (300 minutes) between January 1 and January 31, 2022, and track their progress on lvccld.beanstack.org or Beanstack’s easy-to-use app. Readers can also log reading time on a printable bookmark available at their local library. The bookmark can be turned into the Youth Services Desk.
Kids and teens who complete the challenge will win cool prizes in their age category, such as Regal Cinema movie passes!
“The ‘Read for a Better World’ Winter Reading Challenge offers kids and teens a chance to grow as readers, learn empathy for others, and better understand our beautiful, diverse world,” said Kelvin Watson, executive director of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District. “We hope all of our young readers will start the new year by diving into a new book.”
“Read for a Better World” is Beanstack’s Fifth Annual Winter Reading Challenge, sponsored by Lerner Publishing Group. The challenge encourages readers of all ages to explore diversity, empathy, and action through literature. During the challenge, readers will have unlimited access with no wait time to Lerner’s collection of “Read for a Better World” themed books.
