On Saturday, December 4, 2021, the holiday season got brighter as more than 250 children enjoyed a fun-filled morning shopping with LVMPD officers. The annual Santa Cops holiday shopping experience was made possible with the support from the LVMPD Foundation and Macy’s at the Fashion Show Mall.
LVMPD Undersheriff Christopher Darcy joined the officers and children from all over the Las Vegas Valley as they shopped for toys and winter necessities in time for Christmas.
Officers from each area command nominated children they knew were in great need. The goal of the event is to give kids the opportunity to interact with officers under positive circumstances.
The kids were able to experience one-on-one engagement with 175 LVMPD officers from all area commands, SWAT unit, K-9 and Armor section as they waited for Santa and Mrs. Claus to arrive. Other fun activities included an area where the kids were able to write letters to Santa and enjoy yummy treats from Pinkbox Doughnuts.
Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived right on time and greeted the kids who shared their holiday wishes with him and had photo opportunities.
Funding for Santa Cops is part of the LVMPD Foundation’s Holiday Gift & Give Campaign where donations help law enforcement give back to the communities they serve. Special thanks to Macy’s for giving these children a Christmas to remember.
